Steven Detweiler Memorial Scholarship

The Florida Track Club is proud to support local runners through the Steven Detweiler Memorial Scholarship, which helps offset the costs of participating in races and pursuing personal running goals.

Scholarship funds may be used for race entry fees, travel, lodging, or other event-related expenses, making it easier for runners to take the next step in their running journey.

Steven Detweiler was a physics professor at the University of Florida and a beloved member of the Gainesville running community. In 2016, he passed away unexpectedly while training for the Boston Marathon. Through this scholarship, Florida Track Club honors Steven’s passion for running, his dedication to the local community, and the lasting impact he made on those around him.
